Bulky Goods
Our region urgently requires a centralized bulky goods location to cater to the needs of farmers, primary producers, businesses, and residents. Such a facility would not only enable the existing bulky goods businesses to relocate to a more accessible location but also pave the way for new businesses to flourish.
To ensure easy access, it would be best if the location had a good quality road, possibly a new road, and was relatively flat. Additionally, it should be positioned away from existing road thoroughfares like Main South Road or Main Road.
Some of the significant tenants that could occupy this facility include FPAG, Mitre10, Yankalilla Nursery, Yankalilla Seeds, Fitzgerald Quarries, and Fleurieu Wood Ovens. By moving these businesses to the new location, their existing premises could be repurposed for other uses.
For instance, the Mitre10 store in Normanville could be transformed into a larger Romeo’s Foodland supermarket, leading to the current supermarket being sectioned into smaller shopfronts for new businesses. This strategic move would help boost the local economy and create more job opportunities.
Potential Locations A & B
Just outside of Yankalilla heading towards Inman Valley and near the Yankalilla Waste & Recycling Depot, there are 2 potential locations for a bulky goods location.
Location A – left hand side heading toward Inman Valley, is roughly 3.5 ha
Location B – right hand side heading toward Inman Valley, is roughly 8.0 ha
Either side of the right is relatively flat and an access road could be built direct from Main South Road.
