Council & Committee Meetings – Easy Read

This Code of Practice explains how Council and Committee meetings are run. It sets out the rules for meetings so decisions are fair, clear, and transparent.
The rules are based on State laws about local government meetings. Council can add its own procedures as long as they follow the law.
Meetings should:
A meeting can only start when enough Members are present — this is called a quorum. If there is no quorum, the meeting must be delayed or rescheduled.
Minutes are the official record of a meeting. They must include:

Must behave respectfully. They must not interrupt others or act in a disorderly way. Members can be warned, removed, or suspended if rules are broken.
Must also behave appropriately during meetings.
You can make a complaint in writing to the Chief Executive Officer.
This Code is reviewed regularly, usually at least once each year.
